Ballots for the 2026, General Election will begin mailing on Monday, October 5, 2026. 

The Routt County Clerk must receive your ballot latest tuesday, november 3rd, 7pm

To help election officials process ballots efficiently, deliver your mail ballot to the Routt County Clerk as early as you can. The best way to return your ballot is to deliver it to a secure ballot drop-off box.

Three 24-hour drop-off boxes are located at:

  • 522 Lincoln Ave, Steamboat Springs, in the alley behind the Historic Courthouse,

  • 2025 Shield Dr., Steamboat Springs,i n the parking lot of the old Sheriff's Office, and

  • 26990 Eagle Ln., Clark, at the North Routt Charter School.

Ballots can also be dropped off at one of the following locations during their regular business hours (Election Day, November 3rd, you can drop off until 7:00 p.m.) :

  • Town of Hayden Town Hall - 178 W Jefferson Ave., Hayden

  • Town of Oak Creek Town Hall - 129 Nancy Crawford Blvd., Oak Creek

  • Town of Yampa Town Hall - 101 Main St., Yampa

  • Routt County Clerk and Recorder - 522 Lincoln Ave, Suite 21, Steamboat Springs

All Locations will be picked up at 7:00 pm on November 3rd.

The Steamboat Voter Service and Polling Center (VSPC) opens on Monday, October 19th at the following address and dates/times.

Early voting is available at the Health and Human Services Community Room at 135 6th Street, Steamboat Springs.

  • Monday - Friday, October 19th - November 3rd, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Saturday, October 31st, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

  • Election Day, Tuesday, November 3rd, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Additional VSPCs are open on Election Day at the following locations from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Ballots must be received by 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3rd, POSTMARKS DO NOT COUNT.

All voters who vote at the polls must provide identification to vote in person. If you are voting by mail for the first time, you may also need to provide a photocopy of your identification when you return your ballot - check your ballot envelope to determine if this is required.
